What is QuickSprout?

QuickSprout is a blog written by Neil Patel whom has started to largely growing website analytics tools, CrazyEgg and KISSmetrics.   The blog has internet business tips that Neil has accumulated over the past few years and his work online.  He shares his secrets and tricks on blogging and how to make money and generate traffic to your business’ site and/or blog.  A must read blog for any internet entreprenuer out there.

What you may not know about PollDaddy

You can create a conditional or dynamic survey which goes in different directions, based on previous answers.  For instance if the first question is “Do you like hockey or basketball better?”, if they choose basketball, then a list of survey questions on basketball would come up, and visa versa for hockey.  This is an excellent easy way to create advanced polls and surveys for your website or blog for free.

Wordsplosion is an image blog showcasing misspellings and bad grammar on signs, cards, flyers and anywhere you can find words in everyday world.  Each post is a different image of something with bad grammar or a misspelled word.  Some images are quite humorous and it just goes to show you that there are a lot of people out there that shouldn’t have passed 4th grade English

At the bottom of each image is a quick link that you can click which points out the bad grammar and/or misspellings.  So if you can find it yourself, click this link and it will tell you what’s wrong.

TechCrunch has a feature called CrunchBase that is a huge database of popular internet companies, people, investors, and more.  You can learn the details of a company such as the people that work at it, when it was founded, and where all of their office buildings are located.

Content is updated quite frequently and is definitely something to be added to your RSS feed reader, if you’re a web developer.

What is Smashing Magazine?

Smashing Magazine is a blog for web designers.  Over the past couple years they have compiled some of the best articles on web design.  They have also compiled a great collection of How To articles as well as provided links to free tools, icons, and much more.

What you may not know about Smashing Magazine

With all of the great articles written about web design, occasionally they compile these mass reference guides for a particular web design niche on the internet, such as Joomla, Expression Engine, or Wordpress.  These huge reference guides are referred to as toolboxes and give you more than enough tools to learn about that particular web design system.

What is Wordpress?

Wordpress is an open source blogging platform that allows you to build websites/blogs in the matter of minutes.  Wordpress has a strong community of developers which puts Wordpress on the forefront of simple, professional website building.  It couldn’t be any easier to build a website, than with Wordpress.  The community has collections of thousand of themes (change the look and feel of your site) free for download.  The community also has thousands of plugins (adds additional functionalality, such as shopping carts, advertisement, contact forms, and more) free for download.  All of this can be found on Wordpress.org.  To find the themes and plugins, check out http://www.wordpress.org/extend.

What you may not know about Wordpress

Literally anyone can build a Wordpress site in one sitting.  It’s so easy I put this quick video together for you below, starting with the very basics.  I walk you step by step, from the beginning on how you can get a website up with Wordpress.  You can build any type of website with Wordpress, whether it be a e-commerce (sell products), membership, blog, download, forum, or any other site you can think of, Wordpress can do.  It’s time to start thinking of Wordpress outside of it’s blogging roots.  (I plan in the future to create a post, outlining further details on how you can create Wordpress for a whole plethora of different type of sites, stay tuned).  For now, here’s a video of me installing Wordpress…
