What is Mint?

Mint.com is a free web-based personal financial management service created by entrepreneur Aaron Patzer. Mint provides account aggregation through a deal with Yodlee. Mint’s primary service allows for users to track bank, credit card, investment, and loan transactions and balances through a single user interface. (read more at Wikipedia)

What you may not know about Mint

You can create customized budgets for different categories such as entertainment, groceries, gas and more. Then you can set mobile alerts to be sent to your cell phone when you’re approaching your budget limit. Say for instance you create a category for your bar tabs. You go to the bar, spend money, and don’t really keep track of how much money you’re spending on drinks. Well now with Mint you can set yourself a limit and you’ll get a text message on your phone when you’re spending too much. This is a great way to manage your spending regardless of where you’re at.

What is Evernote?

Evernote is an application and tool for taking notes about anything and everything where ever you are. Using the evernote service you can install software on your computer and cell phones so no matter where you are you can save and sync your notes anywhere. You can save your notes in multiple mediums such as text, audio, images and files.

What you may not know about Evernote

With images that you save you can read the text in the images, so that if you’re searching for something in your notes, Evernote will recognize the text in your images. This is a great way to index things with your cellphone and make them searchable for later.

What is Jott?

Jott is a voice-to-text transcription service which allows its users to call a toll-free telephone number and speak for up to 30 seconds. The speech is then transcribed to text using a combination of software and human transcribers who work in a “sterile environment which also includes medical dictation.” The message can be sent back to oneself, turned into a reminder, sent to a contact or group, or sent to a third-party “Jott link” such as LiveJournal. You can subscribed to different Jott feeds that when you call the Jott phone number you can listen to updates such as sport scores, your friends Twitter updates, world news and more. The free Jott service allows you to use this feature.
