What is Dopplr?

Dopplr is a free social networking service, launched in 2007, that allows users to create itineraries of their travel plans and spot correlations with their contacts’ travel plans in order to arrange meetings at any point on their journey. Additional features include allowing the user to calculate the carbon footprint their journeys have produced. The site is named after Christian Doppler, discoverer of the Doppler effect (read more at Wikipedia)

What you may not know about Dopplr

You can tie in your Flickr image stream to your Dopplr account so that you can share the pictures you take at the different locations that you travel and share them with your friends and family that traveled to the same destinations. It’s also a great way to keep track of all the places that your friends and family are traveling.

What is CellBlock?

CellBlock is a service for your cellphone and website to publish pictures and videos from your cellphone directly to your website. After creating a new cellblock, you would save an email address in your phone. Next for that cellblock, take the embed code and copy and paste it into your website. When you’re ready to upload a picture or video from your cellphone to your website, just send your pictures and videos to the email address you created for that cellblock. Pictures and video go live instantly!

What you may not know about CellBlock

Cellblock has a variety of security settings to allow you to either monitor the content that you publish to your site. With these settings you can create an email whitelist of only users that you want to allow to submit photos and videos to your cellblock. This is a great way to share photos from friends and family’s cell phones immediately after taking the picture. The pictures even show as a slide show on your website so that you can see all the pictures that you and your friends uploaded to that cellblock.

What is Amazon Associates?

Amazon.com is the largest online retailer selling millions of products from books to cds to dvds to digital cameras to clothes. Amazon Associates is Amazon.com affiliate system that allows you to feature Amazon products on your websites and make commission off of sales completed through your website. The system is really easy to use and simple to setup. An affiliate system is a method of recommending a product to someone else via a website or blog, and if someone purchases something by click on it from your site, the system tracks you as the recommender (affiliate) and gives you commission on the purchases made. What you may not know about Amazon Associates

Amazon Associates has this tool to create your own online store of items to sell. This tool is called Amazon aStores. With aStores, you get to select the products, you get to select the design, and then it has its own URL (web site link) that you can share with your family and friends. What I am going to suggest you do is use Amazon.com aStores to create a Christmas wish list of all the items that you want, and share it with your family and friends so they know what you want for Christmas. Not only are you making it easier for them to find what you want, they even have a simple shopping cart to make multiple purchase through your aStore. With all of the purchases made, you make commission (Amazon Associates starts you at 4%, increases with more sales). In return, take that commission you made from your friends and family and spend a little bit more on them. After all this is Christmas time, if money is short, here’s an alternative.
